WQM Training

The VSN WQM program trains volunteers under the Water Action Volunteers (WAV) protocol. WAV is a statewide program for Wisconsin citizens who want to learn about and improve the quality of Wisconsin’s streams and rivers. The program is coordinated through a partnership between the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and the University of Wisconsin’s Cooperative Extension.

VSN provides the monitoring equipment and volunteers provide the time. Participation in the water quality monitoring program requires volunteers to sample monthly at a designated site.

This year, VSN will conduct the following trainings:

May 7th, 10 am-2 pm, West Fork Sportsmans Club, Avalanche, WI

June 4th, 10 am-2 pm, Lions Park, Gays Mills, WI

Each session will cover WAV Level I & II monitoring programs, macro invertebrate index and habitat assessment demonstrations.

There will be other citizen-based monitoring opportunities this summer so please check this site later for additional dates.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact  our WQM Program Manager.
